Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism

We issue rapid response grants to individual feminist activists, organizations, and movements in Canada, Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and the United States. We accept grant applications for projects that are unanticipated and time urgent 365 days per year in all languages specific to the regions we serve. We aim to issue grant decisions within 10 business days. Grant periods range from three-nine months and we issue grants that range up to $8,000. We offer three different types of grants:

Security grants during moments of crisis and/or when the safety or wellbeing of an individual activist or an organization is at risk

Opportunity grants when an opportunity emerges for an activist or organization to lead advocacy work, influence policy, or change public discourse

Collective Care grants to support organizations dedicated to community wellbeing, transformative justice, alternative systems of care and safety, healing justice, and expanding access to sovereign land and space for rest and respite

We leverage our funding power to amplify and center the voices of feminist activists in philanthropy and policy spaces. We also organize convenings, workshops, and learning opportunities to create opportunities for activists to connect, collaborate, and build knowledge.

We are one of four Urgent Action Funds.

Together with our Sister Funds: Urgent Action Fund-Africa, Urgent Action Fund-Latin America, and Urgent Action Fund-Asia Pacific, we collectively support gender justice and human rights movements globally.
