Every day, people are trapped, not just by force, but by silence, isolation, and the belief that no one is coming. Leaving The Jar exists to break that silence. We work at the intersection of prevention, intervention, and restoration, equipping communities to recognize exploitation, reaching vulnerable individuals before harm deepens, and walking alongside survivors through every stage of healing.
We believe freedom isn't just an absence of chains, it's the presence of community, dignity, and opportunity. Through trauma-informed care, survivor advocacy, and grassroots education, we help people not just escape exploitation, but truly rebuild their lives. When you donate or volunteer, you become part of that restoration. You help someone be truly seen, and that changes everything.
"I have a job now. I have plans." — Mariam, program graduate, Egypt
Stories like Mariam's are why Leaving The Jar exists. We were founded to fill a critical gap in the fight against human trafficking, not just rescuing victims, but preventing exploitation before it starts and walking with survivors long after the crisis ends. Our Three Pillars approach covers prevention education, direct intervention, and long-term trauma-informed rehabilitation, addressing the full spectrum of need.
With an 85% program efficiency rate, zero founder compensation, every dollar you give goes directly toward rebuilding lives. We operate across 4 countries, Egypt, Kenya, Zambia, and the USA, and are committed to radical transparency in all we do.
We equip schools, churches, and community leaders with the tools to recognize and respond to trafficking before it happens. Our targeted training programs turn bystanders into protectors, empowering entire communities to identify warning signs and take action to keep vulnerable individuals safe.
When someone is at risk, time matters. We identify vulnerable individuals and step in with scholarships, mentorship, and access to safe opportunities, removing the conditions traffickers exploit. Our intervention programs provide immediate support and advocacy to disrupt cycles of exploitation at their root.
Survival is only the beginning. We provide holistic, trauma-informed rehabilitation addressing the physical, psychological, and emotional needs of survivors. Through vocational training, safe housing, and long-term mentorship, we walk alongside survivors as they reclaim their lives, their dignity, and their futures.
