Litter CleanUp
Our mission is to build a culture of daily cleanups and make outdoor volunteering more accessible for everyone.
We started Litter CleanUp in 2020, shortly after the pandemic hit. It began as a simple project to track cleanups among a small group of friends, and quickly grew to a larger network of litter-picker-uppers around the world.
What we've learned through the years is that the simple act of picking up a piece of litter means much more than meets the eye...
It can bring people and teams from opposite ends of the globe together. It can motivate communities to get outside and enjoy nature. It can inspire a family to do community service together. It can provide opportunities for youth who don't have the means to get to traditional volunteer events.
And for many, it is a simple act of hope that we can all contribute to a cleaner and kinder world, together.

The Litter CleanUp program is a new kind of volunteering - one that you can do on your own terms while making a difference for the planet. We welcome everyone into our program. Whether you're a remote team looking for a fun community service project, a student looking for volunteer hours, or a family wanting to make an impact together, it's easy to get involved!
Volunteering + Events
Remote Volunteering - Outdoor, Self-Paced
With the free Litter CleanUp app, you can volunteer in your own neighborhood, on your own schedule, for however long you want. No sign-ups, no scheduled shifts, no minimums. Just you, some fresh air, and a small action that genuinely makes a difference!
Here's how it works:
1. Download the free Litter CleanUp app (iOS & Android)
2. Head to any outdoor spot near you
3. Clean up at your own pace — the app tracks your progress (volunteer hours, litter picked up, distance cleaned, etc.)
4. Share your impact and connect with other volunteers in the community
Every piece you pick up protects wildlife, keeps microplastics out of our food and water, and makes your community a little better for everyone in it. And when you're done, you'll have a verified record of your impact.
