In October 2018, Our founder Jeremy went on a mission trip for the very first time to Honduras. He visited areas of poverty outside the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Upon returning to United States, Jeremy began thinking of ways to help the people of Honduras in a more sustainable way. He noticed there were missionaries going there every week, however the long term issue was never changing. Many of the people in Honduras were dependent on missionaries and had no hope or confidence in their own abilities. This seemed to be a very disturbing problem for Jeremy. He felt as if there was a better way, and felt as if there could be something established that would give the people of Honduras a more sustainable way to live. Something that would create jobs and create a source of revenue to build homes, feed, and provide clean water to the people of Honduras. The first sustainable business opportunity was a shrimp farm in Honduras, which is where the name Shrimp Matters comes from.
