We are dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyle for the people, preventing new HIV infections/ending AIDS, supporting people that are affected by poverty, hunger, disaster, disability and other health challenges, improving their lives and giving indigent children and adults, access to quality education.
Summary
This project provides non-perishable food items with high nutritional value, to HIV treatment centers in Nnewi-Anambra State, Nigeria, to support the children who are living with HIV and are on antiretroviral therapy therein. These children needs to feed very well as they're taking their antiretroviral drugs, in order to continue building up their immune systems, to withstand the attack of the HIV virus on their T helper cells (CD4 cells), thereby achieving viral suppression and avoiding AIDS.
Challenge
Food is one of the basic needs of a child, taken to provide energy, maintain life and stimulate growth. Most of the children who are living with HIV, are either orphans or comes from poor families and as such, find it very difficult to feed very well, which adversely affects their drug adherence and immunity. For the antiretroviral drugs they're taking to work properly, they need to feed well too and with your donation, this will be achievable.
Solution
We'll use the funds that would be raised through this project, to provide non-perishable food items to HIV treatment centers in Nnewi and beyond, in order to support the feeding of the children who are taking antiretroviral drugs in those clinics. We will also monitor the effectiveness of this support, by going through the clinic's pharmacy daily worksheet during our visits and communicating with the children and their parents/guardians.
Long-Term Impact
By feeding well and taking their antiretroviral drugs, these children will be able to have a strong immune system (high CD4 cells), thereby suppressing the HIV virus and avoiding any opportunistic infections leading to AIDS. Providing food items for these children, will also help to retain them in care, as they'll be anticipating their next clinic visit.
Summary
This project provides food items for the poorest families in Anambra State. Food is one of the basic needs of a man, taken to provide energy, maintain life and stimulate growth. Unfortunately, Nigeria is known as the poverty capital of the world, with about 104 million of it's population living below poverty line. Having enough food to eat, will help these families to avoid many health problems and maintain a healthy life.
Challenge
According to World Bank, 46% (104 million) of the people who are living in Nigeria, are living in poverty, as the country is experiencing a very serious economic hardship leading to increase in the prices of food items, goods and services. This increase in food prices has made it very difficult for the poor families to feed, hence the need to support them with food items.
Solution
We will use the funds that would be raised through this project, to provide food items for the poorest families in Anambra State, in order to help them to continue feeding properly, be healthy and avoid some health problems that are associated with poor feeding.
Long-Term Impact
As food is one of the basic needs of a man, having enough to eat will surely protect the members of these families from starvation, thus help them to continue leading a healthy life.
Summary
This project feeds and supports poor hungry widows in Anambra State. The death of a husband is a tragedy that befalls a woman as it involves a physical break in their relationship, which is very stressful and devastating. The widowhood condition exposes women to psychological and physical abuse, as well as a whole range of health-related problems including HIV/AIDS. Your donations will support these women to have a source of livelihood and take good care of themselves and their children.
Challenge
The period after the death of one's husband is supposed to be a time when the widows should be assisted, to withstand the emotional and psychological trauma, pain and frustration associated with the loss of their husbands. But unfortunately in Nigeria, the reverse is the case, as widows are being maltreated. They face a lot of challenges especially disinheritance, leading to stress, depression, loss of self-esteem, poverty, making them unable to take good care of themselves and their children.
Solution
We will support these women financially and otherwise, to feed and start up businesses or grow the ones that they're already into, so that they can be able to take good care of themselves and their children.
Long-Term Impact
These widows will be financially stable to take proper care of themselves and their children, without having to feel the impact of the loss of their husbands so much.
