TO PROMOTE WOMEN CONTRACTORS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION, INC IS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION'S PREMIERE FORUM FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. THE ORGANIZATION EMPOWERS WOMEN TO CONTINUE TO GROW AND ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN THE COMMUNITY WITH A MOTTO OF: "BY WOMEN, FOR WOMEN." THE INTENT AND GOAL IS TO HELP WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING, CONSTRUCTION, THE TRADES, REAL ESTATE, LAW, AND CONSULTING BUILD SKILLS AND DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS THAT WILL HELP BOTH THEIR FIRMS AND THEMSELVES IN THEIR CONTINUED SUCCESS.

Women's Association of Venture and Equity (WAVE) is a nonprofit organization, which was founded in 2003 and is committed to the development and advancement of women in private equity and venture capital.WAVE's mission is to promote a spirit of cooperation and understanding among its members and to create professional opportunities for them by providing a strong network of contacts in the private equity and venture capital industry.

The organization supports women in the San Francisco Fire Department and fire service. They provide training to their members, represent employee concerns to the SFFD administration, help with recruitment efforts to get more women in the fire department, provide social and networking opportunities, help other community organizations that support women and children. They promote cancer awareness, and are involved with a first ever study on female firefighters and cancer.
