The International Game Developers Association Foundation (IGDA Foundation) is an advancement program dedicated to mentoring individuals from underrepresented communities worldwide, by providing access to mentor programs and coaching from industry veterans that build skills and networking for professional opportunities.
Participants in our programs are selected both for their excellence as individuals and for the promotion of a more diverse and inclusive community. We believe that diversity of all kinds in game development leads to better and more successful products and companies.
The Virtual Exchange is a development program for approximately 60+ grantees from underrepresented communities worldwide. With workshops, panels, and events that meet our cohorts’ needs with information and advice from industry veterans and game companies - the program uplifts, educates, and empowers the next generation of video game developers.
Additionally, each grantee is matched with a current gaming professional who mentors them throughout the six-week program.
The IGDA Foundation was initially created to provide an opportunity to attend GDC, specifically for underrepresented people looking to build a career in the video game industry. We are proud to bring back our GDC program in 2024 where selected 20+ grantees will come together from around the world to participate in person.
