Dial-A-Bus is a non-profit agency that responds to the transportation needs of our community in many different settings and forms. In addition to senior and disabled adults, we serve disadvantaged children and families, provide ADA service for community events, partner with other important service providers like Old Mill Center, The Boys and Girls Club, and all of the surrounding school districts that need help with displaced school children. During the pandemic, the Corvallis homeless coalition, the Benton Food Bank and the Benton County Health Department all requested and received our help, which we were happy to provide.
We will continue to be “The Agency That Says Yes” to the vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community.
From the humble beginnings of a small group of senior volunteers in the mid-1970’s who made sure their friends could get to and from the Senior Center, Dial-A-Bus of Benton County has grown into an agency that serves the transportation needs of senior and disabled adults, children and families navigating poverty and other challenges, the homeless and home-insecure community members of Benton County, and disabled and displaced school children.
Among other services, we have the privilege of driving developmentally disabled adults to their jobs, ensuring our unhoused population can access medical care and food services, and making sure displaced children have the stability of remaining at their home school when they are temporarily living out of district. Occasionally, the community ask us to provide other services that are no less important. In the recent past, we drove a client on hospice care and his family to see the ocean one last time, drove a cancer patient and her husband to celebrate the end of their chemotherapy regimen, and we remain open on Christmas Day so seniors in assisted living facilities can spend the day with their families.
We are extremely proud of our service to the community and you are invited to support our efforts by becoming a volunteer driver or through a simple donation that will go directly to maintaining the services described above. Call us at 541-752-2615 or stop in and see us on the first floor of the Sunset Building at 4077 Research Way.
Dial-A-Bus works with the Corvallis School District, The South Corvallis Food Bank, Riverland Farms, and Operation School Bell in order to deliver food, hygiene supplies, and school supplies to families and other folks in need in our community.
Working with the Corvallis School District, Old Mill Center, and the Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis is such a privilege for us and our drivers. We transport children to make sure they get the education and care that they need no matter their circumstances.
During Covid, the local hospital has to make their beds available as soon as a patient is well enough to go. We partnered with them to make sure patients had a ride when discharged.
Not everyone is able to ride public transit to get where they need to go. For those folks in our community, we are here to schedule rides up to one week in advance.
Transportation for anyone who might need it even if they don't qualify for Benton Area Transit (the service above).
We also offer transportation for large groups to events on our bus. This includes transportation to the airport for OSU sports teams, trips to the Symphony in Salem for people who can't or don't feel safe driving the distance at night, and more!
We are always looking for volunteer drivers to help transport our clients in Corvallis, Or.
Provide independence, stability, and community connections for people in need in our community and you might find that you also make a new friend.
