We transform lives of prisoners, their families and victims through a global network of ministry partners to break the cycle of crime and restore lives, worldwide, through Jesus’ love.
In his effort to support his aging parents and pregnant wife, Lorenzo joined a notorious armed robbery gang. It felt like his only option. But when a robbery led to a man’s death, he was arrested. That same day, his wife died in labor. Overcome with grief and guilt, Lorenzo was lost.
In prison, he joined Sycamore Tree Project, where he encountered Zacchaeus’ story and began to see his own life differently. Lorenzo admitted that he hadn’t taken responsibility for his wife’s death, the child they lost or the man he killed. In that space of truth and reflection, Lorenzo prayed, “Dear God, please forgive me. I will be a better person.” He asked to meet his victim’s family, not to undo the past, but to acknowledge it.
Lorenzo's journey towards restoration isn’t finished. But through Sycamore Tree Project, he has taken the first steps toward redemption. Where there was once destruction, something new is beginning to grow.
Prisoners are often cut off from society and left alone to cope with hopelessness and despair. The Prisoner's Journey transforms the lives of prisoners, from the inside out, by introducing them to a restorative relationship with Jesus. This program has been proven to increase motivation for identity transformation.
Justice systems are often punitive, overlooking victim and not rehabilitating offenders. Sycamore Tree Project joins offenders and victims to discuss accountability and how crime creates harm, ultimately repairing broken lives and reducing recidivism through restorative practices.
Prisoners face significant barriers when accessing the Gospel behind prison walls. The Listener’s Way removes these barriers by bringing solar-powered, audio and visual Scripture to prisoners in their heart language, allowing them to engage in God’s Word in a new and meaningful way.
Children of prisoners are more likely to lack educational access and face stigma from their community than their peers. PromisePath supports children of prisoners and caregivers by providing education assistance, community mentoring and spiritual resources.
