3rd Decade's mission is to change financial futures forever, starting now. We help low to moderate-income young adults make simple changes in their financial behavior, create long-term financial goals, and equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to successfully secure their financial futures. To accomplish this, we utilize a mix of award-winning financial education coupled with one-on-one mentorships to create financially capable individuals and families in and around their “3rd Decade” of life.
This program not only informed me of important financial information that helped change my life for the better, it helped me to overcome my financial anxiety as someone who was raised in poverty. My mentor Marshall was especially supportive, informative, and attentive and has supported me as I’ve gotten my life and my financial situation back on track.
At 3rd Decade, we believe every young adult deserves the chance to build a strong financial future. Our two-year program pairs participants with a volunteer financial mentor who walks alongside them as they learn to budget, save, invest, and manage debt. The results are life-changing: participants often see their net worth grow by tens of thousands of dollars while gaining the confidence to make informed financial decisions.
Through interactive workshops, 3rd Decade brings financial education directly to communities and workplaces. Our sessions cover real-life topics like budgeting, credit, debt, and investing in a way that is approachable and judgment-free. Each workshop empowers participants with practical tools and knowledge they can put into action right away, helping them take meaningful steps toward financial stability and confidence.
Our volunteer mentors empower participants to take charge of their own financial management, helping them feel less stressed and more optimistic about achieving their goals. By instilling confidence and guiding the next steps, mentors do more than support individuals, they strengthen entire communities by increasing financial capacity and promoting long-term wealth retention. Mentoring requires just seven hours over two years per participant, making a meaningful impact achievable with a manageable time commitment.
Alumni Week is our special opportunity to continue supporting 3rd Decade graduates as they navigate their financial journeys. Through panel discussions, workshops, and access to additional resources, alumni can deepen their knowledge, ask questions, and connect with peers who understand their experiences. This week-long series empowers graduates to keep building confidence, growing their wealth, and taking charge of their financial futures
