Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless & at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay & since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care & love. As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised.
We always need dog-walking and cat-cuddling volunteers! These volunteers are the backbone of our animal care programs--plus they get the most snuggles.
Do you have a free couch and soft spot for pets in need? Consider becoming a Foster Caregiver. Whether you want to help bottle babies thrive, provide a safe space for an adult pet to recover from a medical procedure, or just want to give a healthy, adoptable dog take a quick vacation from the shelter, there is nothing as rewarding as saving the most vulnerable lives.
