We support leisure, joy, and vacations for low-income and low-wealth people, with as few barriers to access as possible.
We reject the notion that people must earn their right to rest or vacation; we believe everyone deserves leisure.
It all started when Crescentia's Senior Director, Jessica, reached out to vent some frustration to her longtime childhood friend, our Executive Director Hannah:
"I want to go on vacation; but, how would I? How could I - a single blind woman living in poverty - realistically or safely ever make that happen?"
That sparked something for them both. After some independent research, they could not find any service that provides leisure vacations for low-income/low-wealth folks. Nothing that directly funds chasing joy in the name of recharging.
So they decided to start one.
For folks who have additional barriers to leisure beyond just the financial, Crescentia will take small groups (10-15 people) on all-inclusive leisure vacations!
Intentionally designed with women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ folks, people with disabilities, and other historically targeted or excluded people at the center; relaxation, comfort, and safety will be top priorities.
We are currently still fundraising and planning for these trips. We have set a preliminary goal of raising $5,000 before announcing our first group vacations and opening applications etc. Donate today so we can begin giving folks these much-needed vacations!
Designed for people whose main barrier to leisure and vacationing is financial, our micro-grants provide direct resources for folks to use for rest and relaxation that they already have in mind or are planning for themselves.
These micro-grants support leisure, rest, vacationing, and/or doing something that brings you joy! They are specifically for low-income or low-wealth individuals. Applicants must be residents of the United States. Micro-grant amounts available up to $550, and are only available as funds allow.
Micro-grants are not to be used for overtly political, religious, work-related, or any kind of discriminatory activities. Most formal educational activities and classes are also not supported by these grants; however, feel free to apply and we can discuss on a case-by-case basis.
Help us give money for rest, leisure, and vacationing to folks that need it most!
