Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Ali Banat, was an ordinary guy. Successful and hard-working, Ali became a self-made businessman by the age of 29 years old.

Like many others his age with his success, he lived a life of abundance and luxury, sharing the fruits of his hard work with family and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest, making the most of what the world had to offer.

He loved what he had and the life that he led.

It all changed with a deadly diagnosis. One that would serve as a reminder that time on earth is limited. A gift.

When Ali received this diagnosis, he began to reflect on the life that he had led up until that very point and decided that he hadn’t invested enough in his Akhirah. He couldn’t present what he had - all the material things he’d accumulated, to Allah SWT.

Ali had a choice to make; knowing that his life was drastically cut short. He could have easily fallen into despair, as is common with most people diagnosed with cancer.

Ali chose to see this diagnosis as an opportunity to make a difference in this world and for his Akhirah.

So he sold everything he had, booked a flight to Togo and thus began the journey for Muslims Around The World Project in 2016.

Using his own wealth, Ali began by feeding and supporting orphans and widows in the most impoverished communities within Togo. He invested in agricultural tools and tractors so the community could farm, helping lift themselves out of poverty. He built water wells so they could have clean water, a mosque to pray in, and a school for the children to learn and play.

He began to build a legacy that today has expanded to more than 30 countries around the world.

A legacy that has fed more than 90 million people.

A legacy that each and every single one of us can now call ours.

It started with Ali. It continues with YOU.

Muslims Around The World was born of an act of kindness. Founded by Ali Banat after receiving a deadly diagnosis, this organisation has grown from serving communities in one country, to serving more than 96 million people in more than 20 countries around the world. MATW started with Ali. It continues with you.
100%
In the world of global philanthropy, where each contribution—be it in pounds, dollars, or dinars—is invaluable, the transparency of a charity's donation policy is paramount. Amongst the plethora of charitable organisations, a distinctive model particularly stands out within Islamic charities—the 100% donation policy. This model, epitomised by Muslims Around The World (MATW), assures that every single donation made by benefactors is entirely allocated to the projects they are intended to support, without any deductions for administrative or operational costs. This steadfast commitment to transparency and accountability is not only praiseworthy but also serves as a beacon of trust in the charitable sector.

Zakat Al Mal

Fulfill your obligation with your Zakat Al Mal and empower those most in need. 100% of your Zakat is delivered in MATW projects.

Zakat Al Mal is an act of worship we perform with the wealth Allah has blessed us with. It is a religious duty which cleans away impurities and ensures excess wealth is distributed among those in need. Calculate and give your Zakat today.

MATW takes Zakat management very seriously for many important reasons, especially that it is one of the pillars of Islam, the special regulations and guidelines of this type of donation and huge impact that Zakat potentially has in changing the lives of those who are eligible to receive it.

One main objective of Zakat management is to achieve the best possible outcome in the timely collection and distribution of zakat as ordained in Islamic Shariah. This main objective includes the assurance that the Zakat donations are disbursed to humanitarian aid projects that are eligible to receive Zakat donations, i.e. where the beneficiaries fall under one of the eight categories listed above.

Donate to Palestine and help families survive

Over 465 days of conflict has claimed the lives of more than 46,000 people in Gaza. The temporary ceasefire is a welcomed relief, but it does not erase the permanent damage and unimaginable suffering- displacement, destruction and loss our brothers and sisters have had to endure in Palestine. Nor does it erase immediate immense humanitarian needs required in Gaza today.

Allah SWT has made us a means for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Together, we must rise up for the people of Gaza and help send immediate relief in the form of food, clean water, shelter, medical aid and more.

From delivering critical relief to rebuilding lives and restoring limbs, our MATW team has been on the ground day in and day out, putting your donations to action. Your generosity continues to be their lifeline. Together, we have made an undeniable impact but it isn’t over. They need us now more than ever before. Donate Now.
