Oregon Food Bank

EstablishedProgramming Pro

The mission of Oregon Food Bank is to eliminate hunger and its root causes… because no one should be hungry. At OFB, we believe that food is a basic human right for all. That’s why we connect people with food today and build community power to end hunger at its roots, eliminating barriers to employment, affordable housing, health care, and more.

As a single mom, I know how much love and care goes into every meal we share — and how incredibly heavy the burden feels when you’re unsure if you’ll have enough to feed your kids. Being food insecure is not my fault or failure, it's a policy failure. And we can build something better — a future where every family, no matter their makeup or background, has what they need to thrive.

Programs

Statewide Food Distribution

Each year, the OFB Network provides approximately 91 million meals through our network of regional food banks and partners (from 2025 Hunger Facts). These partner programs distribute food to the community through food pantries, prepared meal sites, shelters, and mobile food distributions. Food includes healthy and shelf stable foods such as fresh vegetables and fruit, meat, fish, prepared meals, eggs, grains, and dairy products.

Building Community Power

This program brings together our partners statewide, including schools, local food producers, culturally specific groups, community leaders, and advocacy coalition to eliminate hunger and its root causes. This work is guided by people who know hunger firsthand, ensuring the people most affected are at the center of creating lasting solutions. That includes a majority of OFB staff, 77% of whom have lived experience of hunger.

Volunteering + Events

Warehouse Repack

Volunteers are key to Oregon Food Bank’s programs. The distribution of food throughout OFB's service area is possible only through the critical work of thousands of dedicated volunteers each year. Volunteer opportunities include: food repack shifts at OFB 33rd and OFB West (Beaverton) locations; garden volunteering opportunities at Unity Farm (seasonal); and phone/text bank opportunities for engagement in our grassroots advocacy efforts.
