The School for Field Studies (SFS) is the premier environmental study abroad program for undergraduates in the United States. With 12 international programs spanning six continents, SFS delivers transformative, field-based education in some of the world’s most ecologically and culturally significant regions. Since 1980, more than 21,000 students from U.S. institutions have engaged in immersive learning experiences that address critical environmental issues. SFS creates transformative study abroad experiences through field-based learning and research. Our educational programs explore the social and ecological dimensions of the complex environmental problems faced by our local partners, contributing to sustainable solutions in the places where we live and work. The SFS community is part of a growing network of individuals and institutions committed to environmental stewardship.

Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation falls under the Environmental Education category: Organizations such as nature centers that provide informal classes which acquaint participants with particular aspects of their environment and increase their understanding of and appreciation for ecological balance. The purpose of JMMF Ocean Therapy is to increase perceived self-efficacy in individuals with physical and developmental disabilities through engagement in physical activity in the ocean, specifically, the activity of surfing.

Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center's (TIOBEC) primary purpose is to provide adventurous and challenging experiential learning programs that inspire character development, compassion, community service, environmental responsibility, and academic achievement. Our organization principally serves early adolescents from all economic and social communities of greater metropolitan Boston, and the institutions and adults who support them. Our programs for BPS students have been developed to help close the opportunity and achievement gaps faced by Boston’s middle school students. In the 1970s, students from wealthier families tested two grade levels above their lower income peers; prior to the pandemic that gap had grown to four grade levels. Recent studies and articles have concluded that the achievement gap between children from poorer and richer families is bound to rise as a result of the pandemic. TIOBEC’s Connections program serves Boston Public Middle Schools students.

The American River Natural History Association (ARNHA) and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center are dedicated to providing educational and interpretive programs and information about the natural environment, principally in the American River Parkway.

The Coral Springs Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital; DBA Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital (SNC) is a vital 501c3 organization serving South Florida. We are a volunteer-driven organization, founded in 1995 by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to helping wildlife. Our mission is twofold: *To rehabilitate injured, sick, and orphaned wild, native animals and return them to their natural habitat. We also maintain habitats for animals that cannot be released due to their injuries or non-native status. *To provide environmental education to students and adults virtually, as well as through outreach programs and in-house field trips for schools, scouts, civic groups.

At the heart of the Teacher Reuse Exchange (TRE) is a mission rooted in sustainability and equity. Every year, schools, teachers, businesses, and those in the community discard enormous amounts of usable materials: books, classroom supplies, educational tools, and other resources that still have life left in them. Instead of allowing these items to end up in landfills, the TRE provides a structured, welcoming outlet where they can be donated, repurposed, and placed back into the hands of people who need them most. This simple act of reuse not only reduces waste but also strengthens the educational ecosystem by ensuring that teachers—many of whom spend hundreds of dollars of their own money on supplies—have access to the tools they need to support their students.

THE MYSTIC RIVER WATERSHED IS A NETWORK OF RIVERS, STREAMS AND PONDS THAT ALL FLOW INTO THE MYSTIC RIVER AND ULTIMATELY BOSTON HARBOR. HOME TO 600,000 RESIDENTS, THE MYSTIC RIVER WATERSHED ASSOCIATION IS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION WORKING TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THIS WATERSHED; AND ENGAGE AND EDUCATE RESIDENTS.

HIGHLANDER SERVES AS A CATALYST FOR GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING AND MOVEMENT BUILDING IN APPALACHIA AND THE SOUTH. WE WORK WITH PEOPLE FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE, EQUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY, SUPPORTING THEIR EFFORTS TO TAKE COLLECTIVE ACTION TO SHAPE THEIR OWN DESTINY.
