Why shoes matter

Shoes are more than things we wear — they’re tools for opportunity. Without proper footwear, kids can be excluded from school, adults may be shut out from work, and mobility — even dignity — is limited.

At the same time, millions of shoes and clothing items are produced each year and never fully used, ending up in landfills or wasted entirely.
