The mission of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Santia couldn't believe it when she saw all the people hammering away on lumber, assembling the walls for her Habitat home. Some 50 local volunteers came out on a drizzly Saturday morning to make sure all 34 interior and exterior walls were built and loaded on a trailer to transport to the parcel where Santia and her three children will have their home built. "It's amazing to see and for my children to begin to realize that people do care about others." Santia remarked. "We have prayed about this for so long and I just knew God would provide if we just kept working at it."

Nearly 95% of Habitat partner families are single moms with kids. These mothers are working as home health providers, child care providers, teachers and service providers struggling to make a life for their children. Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana brings people together to help struggling, working families attain stability allowing them to begin to build a legacy for their children.
