To change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families, and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement and is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada.
Nick Gilger always tells people that, without ALSF, he would not have a family. And it's true. Emily, mom to neuroblastoma survivor Edie, battled neuroblastoma while pregnant with her son Kinsey. Both Edie and Emily were treated with the same breakthrough treatment made possible by ALSF-funded research.
ALSF funds research every step of the way—from early stage innovative research all the way through to lifesaving clinical trials for kids with cancer. ALSF is the only childhood cancer research organization with the NCI peer-reviewed funder designation for rigorous selection of research grants.
The mission of ALSF’s Travel For Care program is to ensure children battling childhood cancer have the financial assistance needed to travel to clinical trials, experimental therapeutics, or treatment innovations not currently available at their local institution.
Center of Excellence grants are given to institutions over a 5-year period to support research as well as the acceleration of clinical trials. The program accomplishes these goals by funding infrastructure needs and training the next generation of leaders in preclinical and clinical drug development.
SuperSibs is dedicated to comforting, encouraging and empowering siblings of children with cancer, so they can face the future with courage and hope. Our Comfort and Care mailing program sends age-appropriate mailings over a two-year period that include coping skills and encouragement for siblings as their brother or sister fights cancer.
This hardcover mini organizer helps parents stay organized and record important information during their child’s treatment, such as appointments, side effects, scans, blood counts and much more. Also available in Spanish.
A national photography program of ALSF, Flashes of Hope provides high quality portraits of heroes and their families. By visiting hospitals and camps, Flashes of Hope offers free photo packages to honor the unique life and memories of every child fighting cancer.

This annual tradition of holding lemonade stand fundraisers every June began with our 8-year-old founder, Alex Scott. She wanted to raise $1 million to give “her doctors” so they could find cures for kids fighting cancer, like her. Her determination inspired others to take their stand for the cause, and they helped her reach $1 million with lemonade stands before she passed away from her cancer in 2004. Every year since, supporters who hold lemonade stands during Lemonade Days continue to raise millions and much more!
The event that started it all, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand, is back to honor the life and legacy of our founder, Alex Scott, and this year we're honoring 25 years since Alex's first lemonade stand! Hosted at Alex’s old school, Penn Wynne Elementary, friends and family will gather to celebrate a meaningful day of fun, food, and festivities.
Alex’s annual lemonade stand is a compilation of food, games, crafts, raffles, races, and sweet lemonade sips. In the afternoon, everyone will gather for a beautiful butterfly release to commemorate and celebrate the lives of all children affected by cancer.
The CBS Philadelphia Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope Telethon is an annual day-long fundraiser celebrating the life of Alex Scott and all children affected by childhood cancer. It includes stories from childhood cancer families, researchers, favorite CBS personalities, and an airing of the Emmy award-winning documentary Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope which tells the heartwarming story of Alex and the Foundation that bears her name.
Hosted by CBS Philadelphia, on-air personalities interview Liz and Jay Scott, childhood cancer hero families, and others to share with viewers the incredible impact that ALSF funding can have on children battling cancer. Tune in to this year’s telecast for a full day of inspiration.
