NPCF is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer. Our focus is to fund research to find less toxic, more targeted therapies by partnering with leading hospitals nationwide.

Vivian is 8 years old and in treatment for High Grade Brain Cancer. She dreams of becoming a dentist.

Vivian was diagnosed in the summer of 2023. She endured her first brain surgery just 4 days later. After she recovered from surgery, she was transferred to a hospital out of state where she stayed for the next 3.5 months. Vivian underwent a second brain surgery to remove the remainder of the tumor a month after the first surgery. Following this surgery, she contracted a complicating infection that she had to recover from prior to starting radiation. Vivian has had 13 craniospinal treatments and 17 focal brain treatments. Vivian returned home right before Christmas and is in the middle of her second round of chemotherapy.

Vivian is very outgoing and loves people and animals. One of Vivian’s favorite experiences was helping to raise caterpillars into butterflies and setting the butterflies free.

With your support, we can help fund critical research and treatments that give children like Vivian the chance to grow up and make their dreams come true. Join us in helping children rise above cancer and live full, vibrant lives.

Sunshine Project

Through the Sunshine Project™, we fund groundbreaking studies that are creating real hope for families facing pediatric cancer. Here’s how:

Accelerating Clinical Trials: We conduct fast, nimble, and non-bureaucratic research that speeds promising therapies into clinical trials. For example, we are currently funding trials that test cutting-edge treatments for aggressive cancers like osteosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Ewing sarcoma.

Collaboration Across Institutions: Our consortium brings together leading doctors and scientists from across the country. This collective brainpower helps us advance new treatments faster by pooling knowledge, sharing resources, and enrolling more children in clinical trials.

Focused on Outcomes: Over the past 12 years, NPCF has invested over $37 million in pediatric cancer research, supporting over 30 translational studies and multiple clinical trials. This funding has led to breakthroughs in drug combinations and more effective treatment strategies for high-risk cancers.

Health Navigator Program

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s Healthcare Navigator program, led by Registered Nurse Kelly, provides essential support to families facing a child’s cancer diagnosis. With a background in critical care, Kelly brings both professional experience and personal insight, having faced the journey herself when her daughter Riley was diagnosed with cancer at 10 months old. Now classified as No Evidence of Disease (NED), Riley’s journey has deepened Kelly’s commitment to helping others through similar challenges.

In her role as Healthcare Navigator, Kelly guides families in understanding their child’s diagnosis, connects them with treatment resources, and offers educational support. She also fosters a sense of community by connecting families who share similar experiences within the childhood cancer network.

The Foundation’s Healthcare Navigator program ensures that no family has to face childhood cancer alone, offering compassionate guidance and hope every step of the way.

Free Pediatric Cancer Toolkits

The **Pediatric Cancer Toolkit** is a free resource provided by the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to support parents navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis. This comprehensive guide includes essential record-keeping tools, treatment summaries, medication logs, and diet tracking sections. It also offers practical advice on managing side effects, tips for emotional resilience, and connections to additional support resources. With stories of hope and detailed educational sections, the toolkit empowers parents with the knowledge and structure to help manage their child’s care and wellbeing during treatment.
