Girls on the Run Greater Oregon

Girls on the Run has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others.

Antwanna didn't consider herself a runner until she started Girls on the Run. She started participating in Girls on the Run as a third grader. Now, three years later, she says, "I was not fast before Girls on the Run I noticed changes in myself, I like running a lot more now. Ever since I started Girls on the Run it feels good to accomplish the goals I set for myself. I have made a lot of friends and it feels good to finish the 5K"

Programs

Girls on the Run (3rd-5th Grade)

Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

Heart & Sole (6th-8th Grade)

Our Heart & Sole middle school program is designed to meet the unique needs of 6th-8th grade girls of all abilities. The program considers the whole person – body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Heart & Sole offers an inclusive place of belonging, where participants feel supported and inspired to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy and strengthen their physical and emotional health. At the end of the season, all team members complete a 5K.

Volunteering + Events

Volunteer as a GOTR Coach this fall!

We are looking for coaches to support our fall season! Participants meet twice weekly for 90 minutes per practice on teams of 8-15 kiddos. Each team has 2-3 coaches who co-coach and guide participants through research-based curriculum. Practices have a social-emotional theme such as how to be a good friend and how to set healthy boundaries. All coaches will be trained by Girls on the Run staff and given the tools they need to have a successful season! No previous coaching or running experience needed We hope you will join us this fall!
