The mission of CASA of Denton County, Inc. is to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Our trained and supported community volunteers build a strong, consistent relationship with each child and their family, promote community resources, and make informed recommendations to the court.
Police found one-year-old Caleb in a parked car outside a gas station with a diaper bag filled with heroin instead of diapers. Within the first few days in foster care, Caleb’s CASA advocate, Jim began working with Caleb’s foster family, daycare, and doctors to facilitate a collaborative team of support for Caleb and he remained by his side until Caleb found a permanent, safe, and loving home.
We are the only organization that provides court advocacy to Denton County children as they navigate the child welfare system after experiencing abuse and neglect. Our highly trained and professionally supported advocate volunteers get to know the child and make recommendations to the court in their best interest for the life of the case, usually eighteen months to two years or more.
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer that is appointed by the court as Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) to advocate for the best interests of children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs are everyday people – teachers, business people, retirees, stay-at-home parents, and grandparents – who are committed to making a difference for children and families.
